YM: How long have you been into music, what was the moment that made you decide to be an artist, & how did you come up with the name DaKatalyZt? ?

DaKatalyZt: From an early age I have always had a special 6th sense for artistic, muzikal, & leadership values. I was introduced to music at the age of four, when I was given a harmonica for my birthday. Since that day I have been trained in the expressionistik arts via piano, various percussion instruments, vizual arts, and creative writing up until the age when I picked up the trumpet; a brass instrument. Through education I was able to gain a keen understanding in rhythm placement, and various theories in music and poetry. Throughout junior high school and comprehensive schooling, I developed a strong love for the Nu-Jazz theoretical understanding, as well as the Classical, but it was in the seventh grade when I delved into the lyrical/rap genre. Of course I would find himself free styling and beating on the cafeteria tables with other young mceez at the time! When I was19 at Tennessee State University marching in the "Aristocracy Uv Bandz" I met up with an old buddy who desired to be part of the hip-hop culture as well and it was at this time that I dubbed myself ’Catalyst’ which has been defined as one that precipitates a process or event, especially without being involved in or changed by the consequences, or perhaps a person whose talk, enthusiasm, or energy causes others to be more friendly, enthusiastic, or energetic; an underground cd was then recorded in the basement of this friends home. However, over time Catalyst grew out of the normal everyday subject matter and rhyme styles of his counterpart, entered into a lyrical growth spurt, and re-dubbed myself DaKatalyZt MUZIXITY MC (the Catalyst Music City Emcee) for the simple fact that there is in existence a jazz group called "Catalyst"!! This was by far the most unique way of naming myself. DaKatalyZt has since then took on various alias and sir/stage names, whereby various individual people in the MUZIXITY industry & on tha Scene should know me: Yoshimitsu-Triple G*, DaKatalyZt MUZIXITY MC, SydneJoneZ, DaKat-N-DaHat, DaKat-that-lasts, Mr.2eace, Fred-Tha-Weatherman + amongst others! Before you knew it I’z lead by the greater being (Kwanzaa-Klauz Uvtha 4th-Dimension) to be very instrumental in assembling the greatest generation X/Y music group the world has yet to have seen; 4ThaSouL, Inc!*© (It'z F.T.S!!!) This group consists of G.I.Green; a very talented singer and lyricist, my younger sibling EeZZeE aKa "Lion-King"; the most profound orchestrator of rhythmz the world has yet seen, PrattamiZ; a very insightful and talented comedian & politician, Lil’World bKa Captives_Freed; the philosophical lyrical dictionary reprezenting ’Out-East’, $.O.$.J.; the hook engineer & private financial consultant, ToneVitto4.20; the business minded low-key lyricist, and JustinJuzZ; the gifted guitarist and innovative spaecialist! (*All being various childhood friends and networking partners who are trusted to the utmost extent*) Headed up by the "Trance-4ormer$" conglomorate, 4Tha$ouL, Inc!*© (It'z F.T.S!!!) agenda iz sure 2 succeed!* As the leader of the Manji Party, I have dedicated myself to providing food, medical assistance, and shelter to the ever-increasing number of political refugees around the world. YM: You bring a different flavor to the music scene and hip hop in Nashville. How would you describe your music?

DaKatalyZt: I'am certainly glad U asked this! Being that I'am native of Middle Tennessee; my sounds have best been described truthfully as home grown virtuosity in accordance with the transcendence of post-modern ambient new~age anti-mainstreamizm & live instrumentation, as well az synthesized-electronic fuzion with eccentric psykadelik-amerikan hip-lyricizm/rap-linguistix, intertwined alongside esoteric-technoriphik alternative-soul, spliced with ecclectic country krunk-pop & NEO/pro-black gothicizm; in short, the life's-work & output of the versatile, well rounded, and liscenced, savant mulatto-muzikologist/music-therapist conesseur-afficionado*

YM: What are your role models or people who inspire you?

YM: A lot of people say that the arts are losing focus of the message and that it is watered down compared to the previous generation, do you still see activism in the arts (music, poetry, visual arts)?

DaKatalyZt: Musicologist activists persuade people to change their behavior directly, rather than persuade governments to change laws.

YM: What is something that you want people to remember you for (currently and in the future)?

DaKatalyZt: My muzik group is called 4Tha$ouL Live Crew, but we go by 4Tha$ouL, Inc!*© (It'z F.T.S!!!) NO SPACES-FORTHASOUL!!!
